Poor relief in England & Wales
Poor relief came from the Anglican parish until 1834, and then the Board of Guardians. All poor Irish knew the distinction between going to church for services, or for help. Settlement examinations are one of our best sources for a place of birth or marriage in Ireland. These go right on to 1929 if they have survived.

Launch Day 6 - all about Historical sites & artifacts

All these daily emails have been about new features that we have introduced with the re-launch of the site.  Historical sites and artifacts is another one.

The imagery of the O'Donoghues is rich with colour and these pictures and the accompanying historical narrative are just some of those which represent the heritage of our name.

For those planning a trip to Ireland this area will be invaluable.  It is available to both members and guests.

I will send one more email tomorrow telling you about our progress since launch and then will start using the News feature on the site, so please make it one of your daily visits.  We are active on Facebook so please check us out there as well.
